It’s getting hot in New York, and Jounce is gearing up for a busy summer. Of course, summer starts with Memorial Day weekend. This weekend you can find the band the Better Farm 40th Anniversary in Redwood, NY on Saturday, May 29th. Jounce will also return to one of the best small music festivals on the east coast, the StrangeCreek Festival in Greenfield, MA, on Sunday, May 30th.

On Saturday, June 12th, Jounce is honored to perform at the Hampshire College 40th Anniversary celebration at Hampshire College in Amherst, MA. Our bass player, Danny Tamberelli, is a Hampshire alum, and the performance schedule includes other alumni bands like the amazing jazz/funk trio Soulive and comedian Eugene Mirman.

We’re also happy to let you know that we’ve added a few new live shows for download via Archive.org. Check out new downloads, including April 3rd, 2010 at the Mercury Lounge in NY and November 17th, 2009 from Cameo in Brooklyn, NY. Jounce had the honor of sharing the stage with Miracle Legion founding members Mark Mulcahy and Ray Neal at a concert in support of the benefit album to Mulcahy following the death of his wife, Ciao My Shining Star: The Songs of Mark Mulcahy. Thom Yorke, The National, Dinosaur Jr., Michael Stipe, Juliana Hatfield, Mercury Rev, and David Berkeley are among other artists who contributed to the album. At the concert, held this past Friday at Toad’s Place in New Haven, Connecticut, Jounce played a short set that included Miracle Legion’s “The Heart Is Attached” and “Snacks and Candy.”

Chistopher Arnott of The New Haven Advocate wrote:

The prime time moment was when Jounce did “Snacks and Candy.” The song had been promoted in the press as Jounce features Danny Tamberelli—”Little Pete” on The Adventures of Pete & Pete, the classic Nickelodeon TV show for which Mulcahy provided the soundtack—and had invited along the show’s “Big Pete,” Mike Maronna to join in on guitar. The Petes turned out to be the big celebrities in the room, and their three-song set (which also included Mulcahy’s “The Heart is Attached” and a Jounce original, “Who Hates the Office”) showcased Tamberelli’s impressive singing voice and the fun he has rockin’ his bass. He commands the stage is a neatly non-showy way, but got to share that stage which Mark Mulcahy made his first appearance of the evening upon it, sharing vocals with Tamberelli on “Snacks and Candy”—the lead single from Drenched, the 1991 album which was supposed to launch Miracle Legion into the big time but instead led them into a record-industry hell of disillusionment and ultimately their break-up.
